WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP TO BEGIN TOMORROW The following is the draw for the women’s championship of the Whakatane Golf Club to be played tomorrow and Saturday:— Senior: Mrs Tippett v Mrs Hall, Mrs Armstrong v Mrs Combes, Mrs Thomas v Mrs Berg, Miss Black v Mrs Symmans. Intermediate: Mrs Buxton v Miss Otley, Miss Baxtre v Mrs Bennett, Miss Armstrong v Mrs Donaldson, Mrs Breckon v Mrs Reardon, Mrs Steel v Mrs McGowan, Mrs Wilson v Mrs Miles, Mrs Otley v Mrs Burke, Mrs Watson v Mrs Fennell. Junior: Mrs Stewart v Mrs Danks, Mrs Tomlinson v Mrs D. Buller, Mrs Carter v Mrs Rivett, Mrs Corcoran v Mrs Armstrong. . Intermediate Flight: Mrs Roach v Mrs Fraser, Mrs Barry v Miss Jenkins, Mrs Sloane v Miss Smith, Mrs Ker v Miss Righton, Mrs R. Butler v Mrs Bushett, Mrs Wardlaw a bye, Mrs Winstone v Mrs Stone, Mrs B. Butler a bye. The winners of last week’s bogey competition were: A, Mrs Thomas, B, Mrs B. Butler, C. Mrs S. Spence. WHAKATANE CLUB CHAMPS The qualifying rounds for the Club Championships were staged on Saturday and although perfect weather conditions prevailed the scores returned were not up to the standard that might have been exp°cted. The first round of match nlay will take place on .September 10.
WIN AT TE PUKE A team of 14 Whakatane golfers visited Te Puke on Sunday and' managed to score a win by 8 matches to 4, with 2 all square. On Sunday, September 11, a team will f be visiting Rotorua.
