Farewell To Officer Of Badminton Club
Last Thursday evening members and past members of the Whakatane Badminton Club met in the Winter Show Hall to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs J. Hignett. “Joe” was" until his recent resignation a popular Club Captain and. has previously held the position of coach.
In recognition of his services to the Club of which he is a foundation member, and as a mark of the esteem with which both he and Mrs Hignett are regarded, the president. Mr K. Morgan, on behalf of the Club members, past and present, asked them to accept a smoker’s stand and a wall mirror. Mr E. Ramson, on behalf of past members, also spoke appreciatively of his association with Mr Hignett. Mr Hignett suitably replied. During the evening a Yankee tournament was played the winners being Mrs J. Mole and Mr E. Ramson.
Supper served by the ladies of the club brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
