Narrow Escape When Horses Bolt

A narrow escape from almost certain serious injury was made by Peter Grey, 10 year old son of Mr and Mrs R. Grey, Taneatua Road, Whakatane, when the horses pulling the cart on which he was sitting took fright and bolted. The boy was sitting on a pile of hay on the cart driving the horses when he slipped onto the pole of the wagon still holding the reins. The horses bolted and careered around the paddock a number of times with the boy still clinging to the pole. When the animals were finally halted the boy slid from the pole none the worse for his adventure.
