REPAIRED BRIDGE RESTRICTION 10 mph 12 TONS WEIGHT

Vehicles not exceeding 12 tons laden weight (axle load 6 tons) and moving at a maximum speed of 10 miles per hour only are to be allowed to use the old Rangitaiki River bridge at Edgecumbe, it was decided at yesterday’s meeting of the Whakatane County Council. Repairs to the bridge have entailed a considerable amount of work, but with the weight and speed restrictions it is expected that the structure will last until the mew bridge, now under, construction,. is completed. - The limit of 12 tons and the 10 m.p.h. speed will allow most carriers and Railway Road Services buses to use the bridge. , Notices with details of the proposed restrictions are to be erected in place of the present signs.
