United Cricket Club To Purchase More Playing Equipment
Only £2l 9s 7d was spent on gear during last season compared with £52 6s 8d the previous year, it : s stated in the annual report of the Whakatane United Cricket Club. As a result this year it will be necessary to purchase about £SO worth of gear, mainly bats, which are very urgent, and pads and balls. A valuable acquisition is the purchase ' f a wicket mower and this had helped to keep the wicket in good playing order. A series of home and away games were played but the season’s programme suffered some interruptions by the inability of the club to field a team on a number of occasions. Generally last season’s playing record could not compare with the 47/48 year. The report. adds that the Club ended the season v/ith a cash cerdit of £64 6s 8d but the assets over all liabilities now stand at £360 6s 3d.
