HILL. CLIMBING AND SCRAMBLE RACES

Spectacular spills and riding were the highlights of the Bay of Plenty Motor Cycle Club’s meeting at Whakatane yesterday. When making a run on the hill climb. Prank Cameron’s Norton stood on its rear wheel and turned over with, a fortunate escape for its rider. During the scramble races H. Lowe’s Velovette took charge and careered off into the trees; but luckily without damage to rider or machine. A crowd of about 200 were present. Results:—

350 cc Hill Climb Championship: C. Dunlop (8.5. A.) 5 4/ssecs 1. T. Woods (A.J.S.) 6 2/ssecs 2j 500 cc Hill Climb Championship: F. Cameron (Norton) 4 l/ssecs 1, A. Swinton (Ariel). 5 2/ssecs 2. Open Handicap Hill Climb: H. Lowe (Velocette) 2 2/ssecs (handicap Gsecs) 1, B. Woods (A.J.S.) 2 2/ssecs (6 2/5 secs) 2, G. Dunlop 1 4/ssecs (6secs) 3. Open Handicap Hill Climb: B. Woods 2 2/ssecs (5 4/ssecs) 1, H. Lowe 3 4/ssecs (5 4/ssecs) 2, G. .Dunlop (3 4/ssecs) 5 4/ssecs 2 equal. Fastest time of the day w r as made by Frank Cameron who completed his run in 4 l/ssecs.
