Manawahe W.I . Collects Seed Packets For China
Mrs E. Goldsmith presided over a good attendance of members at the August meeting of the Manawahe Women’s Institute. A considerable number of packets of seeds were collected for the Rewi Alley Appeal, China. A playette presented by Mesdames Appleby, Bowden, Bowes and Wild_ ing was much appreciated. A demonstration of making rag dolls was given by Mrs Goldsmith. This was most interesting and each member was given the pattern. A doll made accordingly is to be dressed as a nursery rhyme character for the December competition. Monthly competitions:— Best bloom, Mrs L. B. 'Baldwin 1, Mrs J. Wilding 2: shrub, Mrs P. Appleby 1, Mrs Hopkins 2; best vegetable, Mrs J. Morice 1, Mrs W. King 2; boy’s suit, Mrs G. Logan 1. Mrs J. Wilding 2.
