Second Annual Conference For Control Of Weeds
Representatives of organisations interested in weed control will hold a three-day conference at Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North next Tuesday. This will be the second annual National Weeds Conference, at which it is hoped to set up an organisation to arrange for future meetings. The 1949 Conference, which is being called by the Weeds Research Committee and arranged for by Dr J. S. Yeates, of Massey College, is open to all organisations or persons interested in weed control by any method. Organisations ,to be represented will include the following: New Zealand Counties Association, Municipal Association of N.Z., Federated Farmers, Soil Conservation Council, Railways Department, Department of Agriculture, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Cawthron Institute, Catchment Boards’ Association, Massey and Lincoln Agricultural Colleges, Grain, v Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association, Horticultural Trades Association, the Dominion Council of Commedcial Gardeners Ltd., and the Agricultural Chemical Manufacturers’ Association.
The conference programme will be concerned principally with discussions on the progress -of experimental and control of weeds by various methods.
