St John Ambulance Brigade At Taneatua To Be Re-Formed
A move to form a St John Ambulance Brigade at Taneatua is now being made by interested residents and members of the old branch, which went out of existence some years ago. To get the organisation going firmly again a meeting is being called tonight in the sports pavilion at 7.45 p.m. Many members of the old St John branch were enthusiastic in their work, but being employed by the railways they were required to do shift work and so were unable to attend regular parades. As a result activities were somewhat restricted, and Taneatua members became a branch of the Whakatane Brigade. However, regular patrols were kept up at ’ sports meetings and other functions although lately interest, has waned. But the training has been of tremendous value to those who were in the old branch. One member treated nine casualties in the railway yards, while at hockey matches at Ruatoki last year an average of 12 cases were treated by each patrol men.
It is hoped to revive the St John movement at Taneatua again and to get enough members to start a •separate brigade,. Officials in the town consider that the work of the St John organisation is badly needed, and it is hoped it will become established again from tonight.
To cool the body: take ten minutes’ rest on your back, feet raised on a cushion; add a, few drops of toilet water or flower perfume to a warm or luke-warm bath, splash eau-de-Cologne or toilet water over the body after drying down.
