BAY OF PLENTY TEAM TO PLAY AUSTRALIA

< Three players from Whakatane and three from Rangitaiki have been chosen by the selectors, Messrs T. Anderson (Rangitaiki )$ L. T. Clarke (Rotorua) and R. Stacey (Tauranga), + o play in the Bay of Plenty rugby team to meet Australia at Whakatane on August 20. The Whakatane players are E. Welch, H. Ranapia and P. Ratahi f while those from Rangitaiki are K. Sullivan, L. Raureti and- W. Mosesj B. McGougan, Whakatane, is an emer. gency.

On paper the team appears a particularly well balanced combination and the inclusion of M. Delamere at centre and W. Trotman to the front of the scrum mark the only changes in the team which played Waikato last week. The team:—

Fullback: E. Welch (Whakatane). Three-quarters: F. Martin (Ro;crua), M. Delamere (Opotiki), S. Morrison (Rotorua).

Five-eighths: J. Goldsmith (Opotiki), K. Sullivan (Rangitaiki). Half back: L. Raureti (Rangitaiki). Back row: J. Ririnui (Tauranga). Side row: S. McLaughlin (Opotiki), W. Moses (Rangitaiki). United juniors to play Paroa at 1.30 p.m. tomorrow:— W AIR AKA TO PLAY TE TEKO TOMORROW Three rugby games will be played at Whakatane Field tomorrow and one at Taneatua when the Bracken Cup for senior teams and the Wilson Cup for juniors will be continued. At Whakatane the main game however, will be between Wairaka, winners of the Whakatane senior competition this year, and Te Teko, the leaders of the Rangitaiki Union for the Pile! Cup. The draw is :

Senior: Wairaka v Te Teko (Pile Cup) No. 1 ground at 2.45 p.m.; Bracken Cup, United v Paroa No. 2 ground; Taneatua v Poroporo at Taneatua at 2 p.m.
