Tonge, formerly of the Seventh Day Adventist Mission staff, has not been authorised by my Board to collect funds or organise street day collections for the Lepers in the Coral Sea area. The Lepers’ Trust Board appeals for funds by mail and radio only and it does not promote house-to-house canvassing or street collecting. 1 have received official written advice from all mission bodies (including the Seventh Day Adventist Mission) controlling all the hospitals and leper dispensaries in the above area that Mr Tonge has not been authorised by them to canvass or collect money in any way.
