MESSING PLANTS

Sir,—Could anyone tell me what has happened to the climbing plants which were to be grown on the rock above the town about two years ago? I believe that they were to be planted (a) to beautify the side of the bare rock and (b) a protection against fire. I think at the time there was a rather serious fire on Hillcrest and the plants were supposed to be a safeguard. I don’t know what has happened to them but perhaps another serious fire might bring them forth. If that is the case then let us hope we may see them again this summer. Yours etc., ICE PLANT.
