Sport Cancelled Because of wet weather on Saturday all sport at Whakatane had to be cancelled, the only games being affected however, were the basketball club fixtures. At Matata the final of the senior Rangitaiki rugby competition was played in spite of the rain. Although the weather was wet on the coast of the Bay of Plenty it was fine inland and at Rotorua the sun was shining for the greater part of the day. Yesterday hockey matches were played even though it was raining.
