Pig Meat Exports Drop
New Zealand’s export of pig meats has dropped in 11 years from 63 per cent to 23 per cent, revealed Mr W. W. Oberer, chairman, to the annual conference of the Standing Pig Committee of Federated Farmers. In the same period, local consumption had increased from 18,500 tons to 31,000 tons. Britain was now drawing bacon from as far away as Poland, and supplies of pig food from Yugoslavia and even Prussia.
