High Cost Structure Worrying Farmers

Every farmer had cause to worry over the high cost structure .that was forcing the withdrawal of money from the stabilisation account at a time when peak prices prevailed, said the President of Federated Fanners, Mr W. N. Perry, speaking at the Dairy Section conference in Wellington recently. The money had been put into the account to ; provide relief when recess sion of prices came.

Referring to Denmark’s butter price reduction offer to Britain, Mr Phrry said it appeared remarkable that the Danes could reduce their cost of production to the extent of accepting a 50/- per cwt reduction in addition to the 20/- subsidy p&id by the Danish Government.
