Voluntary Saving Of Electricity By Industry Suggested
A suggestion that commercial consumers should be contacted and urged to adopt a voluntary saving campaign before any power cuts were imposed upon them, was made by Cr W. Sullivan to Monday night’s meeting of the. Whakatane Borough Council. He thought that to interfere with industry would be disastrous and would not help the present shortages.
If the different industries were forced to buy alternative power plants it would be a blow against selling electricity in the future. Mr Sullivan said he thought every avenue should be explored before imposing cuts on industry.
