CENTRAL BAY OF PLENTY TEAMS BEAT TAURANGA Playing consistently better hockey in either case Central Bay of Plenty men representatives defeated Tauranga by 4 goals to 2 for the Ellison Cup, while Central Bay of Plenty women were again winners of the Aard Cup when they beat Tauranga by 3 goals to nil. Both games were played on the Edgecumbe Domain on Saturday before a fair crov/d and under cold conditions. Although five of the selected players were absent Central Bay of Plenty men fielded a strong team, which combined better than Tauranga. K. Civil netted 3 goals and I. Jensen 1. For Tauranga K. I’Anson scored both goals. In the women’s game the half line of the home team had a distinct advantage over Tauranga’s, although the first spell was fairly even. In the second spell Tauranga rallied but lack of combination in the forwards prevented scoring.
