Pilgrimage To Rome Information regarding the New Zealand section of the Holy Year pilgrimage to Rome indicates that the pilgrims will be leaving this country on March 21 of next year by the new liner Rangitoto, in which 120 berths have been reserved. After visiting England the party is expected to arrive in Rome on May 7 and spend three days there. They will then spend 16 days on the Continent, visiting various shrines before returning to England for the homeward voyage. Edgecumbe Bridge Cr R. C. Leslie called in on Friday. He said some of the ratepayers in his area had the impression that, at last Tuesday’s meeting of the County Council he had advocated the rebuilding of the old Rangitaiki River Bridge at Edgecumbe in spite of the fact that the Main Highways, Board is building a new bridge. What he had intended to convey, he said, was that, if it were to be expected to carry unrestricted traffic the bridge would need to be rebuilt, but he favoured the restriction of traffic until the new bridge is completed.
