Y.F.C. Debate

The Young Farmers’ Clubs national debating competition was carried a stage further on Thursday when teams representing the. Eastern and Western Bay of Plenty districts met at Thornton. The subject was “That a one man dairy farm is the most economical unit.’ Western Bay, represented by the Te Puna Club, scored 305 points to score a narrow win over Eastern Bay, represented by Wainui Club, who scored 291. Adjudicator was Mr L. Buddie. Mr J. C. Hawken, chairman of Eastern Bay of Plenty District Committee, was in the chair and Mr F. E. J. Broadmore acted as timekeeper.
