Slight Decrease In Power Consumption
Although still well over the allocation the consumption of power at Whakatane is dropping slightly but a bigger saving is wanted yet before the position can be said to be improving. As an indication of the slight drop the allocation to the town for the week ending June 19 was 68,788 units. The consumption used 76,940 units, an increase of 11.8 per cent and an increase of 7.29 per cent for the year. For the week ending June 26 the •allocation was the same but the consumption went down to 76,150 units. This is an increase of 10.7 per cent and 7.42 per cent for the year. This is a decrease but electricity officials warned that more saving was wanted. Wherever possible power is to be saved.
