Mr P. L. Sharman was elected to membership of the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce at its general meeting on Thursday.

Mr C. Maxwell, who has been in the post office for 42 years, most of which was spent at Whakatane, retired on Thursday. He intends to remain at Whakatane.

Mr W. McCarthy, manager of a Whakatane grocer store has been transfered to Waitoa and leaves to take up his new position on Thursday. His place at Whakatane is to be taken by Mr S. W. Mclntyre, formerly of Morrinsville.
