Peat Fuel Scheme For Waikato
Housewives will have an'alternative fuel to coal and firewood next winter if plans made by a Wellington research worker can be completed within a few months. The substance is peat, which will be dug from a Waikato swamp, ?dried, and cut into block to produce a fuel as good as coal at a cheaper price, acording to Mr H. Hill, of Wellington, who hooes to develop a special type for use in railway locomotive furnaces.
An assurance of Government assistance in the 1 project has been given by the Public Works and Department of Industries and Commerce, he said.
