Church Of Te Kooti Rikirangi

A party of 60 from Wanganui arrived at Poroporo on Wednesday to attend the half-yearly Church festival of the Church of Te Kooti Rikirangi, commonly known to its adherents as the “Hurae.”

The party is headed by Tanginoa Tapa, paramount chief of Te Wai-nui-a-rua, Wanganui. Mr Tanginoa is one of those leaders who was responsible for the Wanganui River claim. With him is Mr Hori Paamu a well known authority on Maori genealogy and an orator of the highest degree according to Maori custom. The Rev Kaiwhare Kirione is also with the party. The party which left yesterday morning left for Opotiki via Taneatua on a sight-seeing tour is under the control of Mr Bill Robertson, of the Wanganui River Bus Co.
