United Kingdom Is Biggest Importer Of New Zealand Wool

The United Kingdom, France and the United States of America, in that order, were New Zealand’s best customers for wool in the nine months which ended on March 31 last. Germany, Holland and Russia were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively on the list of 29 different countries to which New Zealand wool was shipped in that period, states the New Zealand Wool Board.

The total exports for the nine months were 896,924 bales, comprising 688,353 greasy, 109,766 slipe and 98,805 scoured.

The countries to which the wool was sent, were: —

United Kingdom (private shipments) 318,159 bales, United Kingdom (J.O. shipments) 114,505, France 178,896, U.S.A. 54,682, Germany 35,961, Holland 35,079, Russia 34,721, Canada 33,302, Belgium 25,765, Italy 17,254, Australia 13,217, Poland 8,268, Sweden 5,965, Denmark 4,384, India 3,602 Egypt 2,823, Japan 2,540, Greece 1,642, Czechoslovakia 1,551, Morocco 1,286, Bulgaria 1,092, Norway 613, Finland 336, Spain 279, South Africa 256, Eire 241, China 204, Algeria 197, Switzerland 75, Northern Ireland 25, Yugoslavia 4.
