OUR WINTER SHOW
Time was when the river meandered O’er the site where the Show Building stands And the old Mangapapa steamed over The course claimed by time’s drifting sands Whakatane was then nicknamed “Briar Town” On which Taneatua was wont to look down The swamp was enduring acute growing pains Bravely borne to become The Rangitaiki Plains With the factpry at Edgeeumbe a city to be A star in the crown of the Bay of Plenty The Freezing Works certainly were a washout But the Paper Mills put Dame Misfortune to rout In spite of the war the flooding and drought Whakatane is virile of that there’s no doubt Prosperity’s sunshine is flooding the Bay Production is booming, and folks come to stay Pessimists open-minded should be sure and go And become Optimists at our Winter Show. HARRY SERGANT.
It is not necessary to count the words in the Bible, if you are curious as to how many there are; it has already been done. In the Old Testament there are no fewer than 502,439: in the New Testament 181,253 words.
