TANEATUA HAS WIN OVER PAROA Playing better football Taneatua had a comparatively easy win over Paroa at Whakatane on Saturday by 18 points to nil. More finish to their movements and intensive backing up gave the game to Taneatua but working hard throughout Paroa were in no way outplayed.

Welch and Sisam were the Taneatua backs to show up with L. McCready and Ball playing good games in the pack. , For Paroa Ruru was safe when he moved to full back. A. Martin was always a source of danger. In the forwards Ranapia and Ratahi were the outstanding workers. Teams:—

POROPORO FAILS AGAINST WAIRAKA Although by no means disgraced Poroporo were unable to combat the open play of Wairaka and fell short in the last few minutes to a defeat of 17 points to 8 in a sinior Rugby match at Whakatane oh Saturday. Watched by a large crowd in fine weather the game moved from one end of the field to the other quickly but at no stage did Wairaka look like losing. For Wairaka M. Bluett played a match which should bring him close to the representative side at centre while G. Lawson was confidently cool at full back. In the forwards K. Merito and R. Hudson worked hard. B. Martin and Hotene were safe in the Poroporo backs while Kopae played a solid game in the forwards. Teams:— Poroporo: Huta, J. Kingi, Kororiko, J. Biddle, B. Martin, Merito, Rangikotua, Hotene, R. UNITED PLAYS FRIENDLY GAMES Having the bye in both the senior and junior competitions United played successful Rugby matches against Paengaroa at Whakatane on Saturday. In the senior match the game ended in a draw, six all. In the , junior grade however, United outplayed their opponents in bright football to the tune of 29 points to 11.
