Owing to the fact that no Winter Show has been held for eight war years, those citizens who so loyally supported the Show with membership subscriptions during the lean years have borne the burden alone. The Executive appeals to new residents, and to all those who are not Winter Show members to apply to the committee or the secretary for membership cards at the low cost of 10/6 covering four Show Days. Exhibitors should send in their entries at once and ease the burden for Show Week. Four hundred schedules were distributed in the town last week. 1600 schedules have gone to every rural home and to all previous exhibitors in all parts of the North Island. The Headmasters’ Association held a meeting last week and we anticipate a wonderful school display from both Maori and other schools throughout the coast. Parents should not fail to see this display because from these children may come a Lord Rutherford, a Clement Attlee or a Winston Churchill. We want entries for the procession and remember the winner in the decorated car class wins £3 3s and every class winner can win substantial prize money and in some cases a Cup. A refreshment marquee is being erected and you will get quick service at reasonable prices. We received a quick response from our advertisement for entries. A lady and her husband walked into the Show Buildings and paid for 36 entries covering nearly every home class in the schedule. This would be a fine farm for a holiday if you enjoy the good food that a well-run home can provide. Ring 398 D Day Time, 169 A at Night. If 398 D does not answer ring 169 A and failing a response 355. We do not want to miss an entry or an enquiry. R. COBBE, Secretary. GOLF BALLS. Slazengers, Penfolds, Silver King, Pin Hi, etc. Armsongs, The Strand.
