Young Rangitaiki Rifleman Takes Bay Championship At Rotorua on Monday, A. Moore, young Rangitaiki Rifle Club member from Thornton, won the Bay of Plenty championship carrying the Moore Belt, at the annual championship shoot conducted this year by the Rotorua Defence Rifle Club. Seven shots were fired on each of three ranges, 300, 500 and 600 yards. L. H. Ford and A. W. Warren, of Tauranga club, were runners-up, with 93 each. The Opotiki Star, for teams of four men, was won by Tauranga No. 1, with Rangitaiki second. Individual range scores were:— 300 Yards: C. S. Penny (Rangitcki), 32; A. W. Warren (Tauranga) 31; A. W. Simcock (Rotorua) 31; A.

Moore (Rangitaiki) 31; L. H. Ford (Tauranga) 31; A. Castle (Te Aroha) 31.

500 Yards: A. Castle, 34; A. ,W. Rollett (Matamata), 34; H. Harpham (Tauranga), 33; J. M. Warren '’Tauranga), 33; K. Pearse (Rangitaiki), 33; L. Davies (Rangitaiki), 33.

600 Yards: L. Davies, 33; E. Morey (Rotorua), 32; M. Griffiths (Matamata), 32; H. Ford, 32; A. Moore. 32. .

Aggregate: Castle (Te Aroha), 96; Moore (Rangitaiki), 95; Rollett (Matamata), 94; Ford (Tauranga), 93; Warren (Tauranga), 93; W. Ernest (Matamata) 32. Castle and Rollett are members of clubs outside the Bay of Plenty. The meeting was well conducted, being under the able control of the veteran, Willie Moore, secretary of the Rangitaiki Club, for the past 21 years, who was chief range officer of the day, and in presenting the trophies complimented the Rotorua members on .the efficient manner in which they had carried out the arrangements.
