Power Consumption Decreases Slightly

Although still over the allocation the consumption of electricity at Whakatane has decreased slightly according to the borough electrical engineer, Mr F. Lysaght. However, a greater saving is still needed by all consumers to bring the amount of electricity used down further yet if further severe cuts are to be avoided, he warned.

- For the week ending June 5 the allocation to Whakatane was 68,788 units. The amount consumed was 75,016 units, an increase of 9.4 per cent over the allocation. For the previous period ending on May 29, the allocation was the same but the amount used was 76,700 units, the increase being 11.5 per cent.
