152 State Houses Allocated In April To Ex-servicemen
Up to the end of April ex-service-men had received tenancies of 10,408 State rental houses and flats under the arrangement whereby at least half of those allocated go to ex-servicemen applicants! Allocations are made on the basis Of urgency by Rehabilitation Housing Committees in each centre. During April the number of State houses allocated to ex-servicemen was 152. Houses have been allocated to exservicemen in the following districts, alocations for April being shown in parentheses:— Auckland-North Auckland 3,021 OS), Waikato-Bay of Plenty 829 15), Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay 510 (7), Taranaki 312 (9), Wellington (including Wanganui, Manawatu and Wairarapa) 3,509 (46), Nelson-Marlborough-West Coast 283 (8), Canterbury Province 1,163 (16), Otago Province 563 (22), Southland •218 (1).
