Nutritive Value Of Grasses
The high nutritive value of pasture is not always realised. Investigators into the composition of grass have stated: “In respect of digestibility, well-grazed grass compares favourably with concentrates like linseed cake, and is far superior to meadow hay of the best quality. In respect of its dry matter it may be looked on as possessing the character of a concentrate rich in digestible 'oil.” It is, in effect, a “watered protein concentrate.’' These remarks apply to a fresh growth of grass of up to three weeks of age,
