Whakatane Club Basketball Will Start On June 11

Each team is to be permitted to nominate six players for the Whakatane representative side from v/hich the final team will be selected after trial games among the nominated players, it was decided at Wednesday night’s general meeting of the Whakatane Basketball Association.

The club competitions are to commence on June 11 and all entries are to be with the secretary by Wednesday, June 1, while entry forms are to be accompanied by the registration fee at 1/- per player and with the nomination of at least one referee. The teams are also being asked their opinions on whether they want all games played at Whakatane or on a home and away basis. There may be some new teams entering the competition this year and they are to register their colours before they commence play.

The annual Pakeha v Maori match is to be abandoned for this season but a knockout tournament will be played at the end of the year. Officers elected: —

President, Mrs W. J. Dippy; sec-retary-treasurer, Mr L. C. Richards; committee, Mesdames M. Rowson, J. Keepa and Miss J. Sisam; selector, Mrs Dippy.
