Mr M. Cousins was chopping wood at his home at Ohope on Sunday morning when the axe head flew off, inflicting a cut in his forehead,’ requiring medical attention.
Involved in a motor accident on Friday night at Whakatane Mr Peter Gould, of H.M.N.Z.S. Bellona, received injuries to the head and was admitted to the Whakatane District Hospital where he was reported today to be progressing steadily.
Major and Mrs H. B. Higgins and Mr A. des Tombe, of Auckland, have been week-end guests of Mr and Mrs R. Cobbe, Ohope. Major Higgins and Mr des Tombe, widely experienced in overseas riding instruction, spent Saturday and yesterday coaching Pony Club instructors.
Mr Alex Thomson, M.R., C.V.S., senior veterinarian to the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Co. Ltd. for the past 12 .years is leaving at the end of June for a similar appointment at Masterton. Mr Durno Murray, B.Sc., M.R.C.V.S., junior veterinarian to the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Co., is. leaving at the end of June tc take up a research appointment at Wallaceville.
