ROAD COURTESY
Sir, —-While cycling into Whakatane on Friday night I had the pleasure of passing a few motorists who dipped their headlights not only for cars etc., but also showed consideration for oncoming cyclists. Although some motorists do not realise it’s dazzle can be just as dangerous to cyclists as it can to motorists.
Then there are the people who ride motor cycles. They seem to speed round corners as though they were out in some desert wher a there was no other traffic. Also there are those cyclists who insist on riding two or more abreast. I was cycling home one night when I saw four cyclists spread right across the road. When a car came round the corner \ there was immediately a rush. for the side of the road, one person being knocked off his bike in the rush. Surely something can be done about these things and the offenders taught a few more road manners. Yours etc., CAREFUL CYCLIST,
