Cook Islands And Australia Hear IYZ Bay Of Plenty
An enthusiastic D.X. fan aboard the Maui Pomare. sailing in the Cook Islands Group, 1700 miles from Auckland, informed the Bay of Plenty Station manager, Mr K. Collins, that he received IYZ at very good strength and - that audibility was excellent with a little 4valve battery set. YA stations in comparison came in at only average strength. A listener at Burwood, Victoria, Australia, wrote that the reception was of reasonable entertainment quality. “Signals were reasonably good on a 6-tube set,” said a radio dial twiddler at Prospect, South Australia. Other reports of good reception have come in from Melbourne, Victoria, New Caledonia and Norfolk Island.
