Fast Going And Interesting Jumps At Te Teko Hunt

Fast going, plenty of hares, interesting jumps, made the second hunt of the Rangitaiki Ward Opotiki Hunt Club held last Saturday at Te Teko a wonderful success. For the spectators this is a good hunting course, as the countryside is well roaded, and the number of, road doubles affords some jumping scenes. The first jump over a big sapling landed the hunt into G. Powell’s property where the hounds casting about led the hunt to Hona’s property and a hare was put up. After a short run it was lost.

Continuing on up the river, hounds gave, tongue to another hare which led the hunt a fast and furious run up and down the river bank, over saplings and hedges but was eventually lost in high gorse. The hounds had a hard time to follow the scent as the ground was foiled in many places. The property of M. Hall’s was hunted over and the double road jump on Burr’s and Goodwin’s gave riders and spectators a few breathless moments.
