WHAKATANE WINTER SHOW For eight years a great war cast a shadow on this Show, but an energetic committee of farseeing citizens have determined to try and emulate the results achieved by those pioneers, who made the Show a part of our community life. Success can come only with the help and goodwill of every resident in town and country, and the executive will welcome suggestions that will make this Show a function to be remembered. A new departure has been made in the School Sections, and the Headmasters’ Association will arrange for a fine exhibit of pupils work from each school in this area. This School Court will include work from the Maori Schools, and the entire exhibit should interest every parent on the Coast. On Saturday, June 25, at 1.30 p.m. a procession of decorated vehicles, wheelbarrows and comic items will take place. If you have any ideas, entries or can help in any way, see Mr A. R. Chapman (Regent Theatre) who will act as Marshall. Arrangements are being made to hold a Motor Car and Tractor Court and further particulars will appear in this column. Refreshments and hot water will be available at the Show and the tent will face the main entrance More applications for Side Show space have been received than space can be found for, and it is anticipated that shows like “The Wall of Death,” where a young boy takes risks that many a soldier would refuse to take, will attract great attention. ' In each issue of this paper Show information will be detailed The Pony Clubs will probably take part in the procession and you will see the future competitors in the A, & P. jumping contests* starting their Show careers, Mark these dates on your calendar.
