Two Old Men Die In Gas-Filled Room

Three men living in a boardinghouse for old people at Ealing, London, W., were found gassed by police who were called to the house. Two of the men, William Blomfield, 87, and Tom Beard, 88, were dead. A third, Alexander Glass, 86, is seriously ill in King Edward’s Hospital, Ealing.

The house, at Montpelier Road, Ealing, is owned by Lady Mary Menzies, who lets rooms to elderly people at a low rent. The three gassed men shared the same room. It is thought that one of them, getting up in the night to light a gas-fire, became ill and went back to bed, leaving the gas on but unlighted.
