Cold Temperatures Felt At Whakatane

Since the heavy rain last week temperatures throughout the Bay of Plenty have dropped considerably. From Whakatane inland over the Rangitaiki Plains and further to Galatea and Murupara icy cold temperatures have been experienced. It has been noticed all the more because of the sudden drop to the winter atmosphere. At Whakatane winter clothing has made an appearance and there are few who doubt that winter is here. Snow on Mt. Tarawera has been noticed and that has possibly helped in bringing frosts to the district. However, frosts have not been as bad yet as was expected.
