League

EXECUTIVE MEETING At a meeting of the executive held in the Anzac Hall last Wednesday evening delegates from the Waimana area were present. Mr Tenana Turuwhenua speaking on behalf of his people, assured the League that they were fielding a fairly solid team for competition under the code and stated that he felt quite confident, that this code had come into the Bay of Plenty for good and any promising player would greatly benefit by it. Mr Tui Tawera, president of the League, thanked Mr Tenana for his remarks and supported the contention that the code - had come into this area for keeps. With the formation of a sub-League in Rotorua there is nothing to stop the growth and the activities of the code in the Bay of Plenty area. During the week Mr T. Hardwick, of Whakatane, paid a visit to Ruatoki for the purpose of coaching the teams and helping members of the Referees’ Association in the control of the matches.
