Farewell Party

Friends gathered recently at the home of Mrs Metcalfe to bid bon voyage to Sister Ivy Pearce on the eve of her departure to England, and presented her with a handy “carry all” travelling bag. . Sister Pearce sailed from Auckland on s.s. Tamaroa, and will attend the 50th International Conference of trained nurses, to be held in Stockholm early in June. Returning later to Birmingham, Sister Pearce intends taking a ten month post-graduate course in diseases of childhood. Sister Pearce was for a short time asssitant Plunket Nurse both in Opotiki and Whakatane and -was well known in the surrounding country districts.
