RUGBY SUB-UNION DECIDES TO HAVE ALL MATCHES CENTRALISED: SIX CLUBS OBJECT TO AMALGAMATION
Unanimously turning down any scheme to amalgamate clubs a proposal to centralise Rugby matches at Whakatane and Taneatua was carried, with three objections, at the annual meeting of the. Whakatane Rugby Sub-Union last Wednesday evening. Waimana objected strongly and pointed out the difficult position it would be in, having to travel 24 miles to play football every Saturday. While agreeing that Waimana was unfortunate in its locality the majority of delegates felt it was for the betterment of Rugby as a whole that matches be centralised.
