ST GEORGE’S TENNIS CLUB’S CLOSING DAY

The' official closing of St George’s Tennis Club on Saturday saw the end of a very successful and enjoyable season. During the afternoon a Yankee Tournament was played, the winners being Mrs J. C. J. Wilson (who played in the men’s section) and Mrs W. Whittaker. The club held its annual meeting during the afternoon tea interval, the balance sheet showing a very satisfactory credit balance. Officers elected: President, Rev J. Cr J. Wilson; club captains, men, Mr T. Davie, women, Miss, P. Rivett; secretary, Mrs M. Thompson; committee, Mesdames McLeod and P. Davie, Miss D. Richardson, Messrs G. Brassey, F. Benseman, B. Johnson and A. Head; delegates tq association, Mrs T. Davie, Miss Rivett and Mrs lTiompson.*The trophies for the annual handicap tournament held recently were presented. Winners Were: Women’s singles, Mrs Wilson; men’s singles, Rev Wilson; women’s doubles, Mrs Whittaker and Miss Otley; men’s doubles, Mr Davie and Mr Thom; combined doubles, Mrs Thompson and Mr Brassey.
