City Of Churches And Rats
Adelaide, once known as the city of churches, is in danger of becoming a city of rats. It has more rats than people, according to the City Health Officer, Dr Fry. He estimates the rat population at 500,000, the people at 333,000.
Although, the rats do damage estimated at £400,000 a year, Dr Fry says the Adelaide variety are the healthiest in Australia. Regular laboratory tests show that very few diseased rats live in the city.
