There is already over £2OO in

the fund! for the benefit of the

widow of the late Traffic Officer , John Kehoe, but there will possibly be further donations before the list officially closses to- ; morrow evening.

There was splendid spontaneous response to the suggestion of a local citizen immediately following the tragedy that something of the sort should be started. He backed his own idea with an anonymous donation of £2O, and the fund built to over £IOO in a few weeks with almost daily donations from all parts of the district and all types of people—a warm tribute to the memory of a man who did his job conscientiously and well. This was the position yesterday:

Previously ack. £176 2 •6 Whakatane Carriers’ Assn. 30 0 0 S. S. Shapley & Co. 1 0 0 Legion of Frontiersmen 3 6 0 Mr J. Moulden,' Te Teko i 2 0 0 Total £212 8 6
