EMPLOYERS’ LIABILITY INSURANCE Under the Workers’ Compensation Act 1947, every employer is required to deliver an Employer’s Statement of Wages to the State Fire Insurance Office on the prescribed form not later than 30th April. (This does not apply to members of insurance associations whose members have been exempted by the Compensation Court, or to local authorities which have been exempted by the Compensation Court). A person who is not an employer on Ist April but who afterwards becomes an employer is required to deliver a Statement of Wages within fourteen days of commencing to employ. The Statement of Wages should be forwarded by post or delivered in person by the Employer to the Branch Office for the District of the State Fire Insurance Office. As soon as practicable after receiving the Statement the Office will send to the employer an Assessment of Premium. The premium must be paid within one month after the date of assessment. Please apply to the State Fire Office Tauranga (or to Post Offices in other towns) for a Statement of Wages form. 320
