Shooting Season The shooting season in the Auckland Province this, year opens on May 14 and closes ori May 29 for duck, swan and pokeko. Pheasant and quail may be shot from May 14 to July 3.
Rock Phosphate Supplies Rock phosphate supplies to be brought in this year are more than New Zealand has ever used before, according to figures compiled by the Auckland Fertiliser Committee on which the Auckland Province Federated Farmers is represented.
Rotary Club Meeting The weekly meeting of, the Whakatane Rotary Club took the form more of a social gathering on Tuesday night. Representatives of the four banks at Whakatane attended
and the meeting, after a short singsong, was addressed by a past president of the Auckland club, Mr P. Harrison. He was later thanked by Rotarian F. Appleby.
Visit By J’S. P. Early next month the annual conference of the New Zealand Justices of the Peace Association will be held in Tauranga. A party of delegates taking part in the conference will be travelling to visit Whakatane on April 7. They will arrive at Ohope Beach at noon where they are to be entertained by the Whakatane J’s. P. In the afternoon they will visit the Whakatane Board Mills and are expected to return to Tauranga later in the day.
