CLEAN YOUR TEETH Use The Toothbrush Properly (By the Department of Health) A simple way to brush the teeth is to close the teeth edge to edge and with a circular motion of the brush starting from the back on one side and working to the front rotate the brush in circles involving both the upper and lower gums as well as the tooth surfaces. Next do the biting surfaces of the teeth, particularly the moulars at the back, by brushing to and fro, and easing the bristle points into the fissures on the tooth surfaces. The inside tooth surfaces or tongue and palate surfaces may be brushed as follows: For the Upper inside | surfaces, place th@ brush on the I gums at an angle so that the bristles will not injure or pierce the gum tissue, then sweep the brush head down over the gum and the. tooth surface and in the direction of the biting edge. For the lower teeth the action is exactly the same -except that here the bristles should’ be swept upwards towards the biting edges of the teeth. If one considers this well for a moment it is easily seen that the act of toothbrushing is quite a long one if the teeth and gums are to be done properly. To be effective it must be conscientiously carried out.
