Killing The Goose

At a recent meeting of the Gymkhana Committee at Waimana, where details of the forthcoming carnival on Easter Saturday were being discussed, a well-known personality, whom we shall call Tahora Jack, offered to donate a goose for one of the weight estimating competitions. It was agreed that a .22 bullet should be lodged in it on the morning of the carnival, as this small piece of lead should not unduly upset the calculations of competitors. This promptejd a member of the committee to suggest that the doomed, bird would not, as is alleged to have happened on a previous similar occasion, fly home!
