“THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY”

When Walter Thurber wrote his delightful short story about Walter Mitty, the henpecked husband who escaped, his battle axe wife in dreams of courageous deeds of which he was the central heroic figure, he never dreamed that Danny Kaye would make Mitty one of the most well known names in the Eng-lish-speaking world. Together with Samuel Goldwyn, Kaye has made a film that for sheer exhilirating comedy has only been equalled by Clifton Webb in “Sitting Pretty.” After seeing this picture any previous unfavorable no-

tions you may have had of Kaye as an actor will be quickly dispelled. He acts and lives the part not of one man but of several different males, from a Paris dress designer to an R.A.F. fighter pilot of the Desert Air Force. He is the picture, and his own inimitable comedy has been the source of favourable comment from many a critic. The picture has its drawbacks but the gabbled songs, which Kaye somehow makes you enjoy, and his acting make up for them.
